Meeting the Pesach Challenge While the whole Jewish world prepared for Pesach, Bikur Cholim prepared for the unexpected. Any time a family is thrust into a medical crisis, the logistics can seem overwhelming. When that crisis occurs during Pesach, however, a whole new level of complications arise. What will the family do for a seder? How will they and the patient get kosher l'Pesach food?
Bikur Cholim came to the rescue this past Pesach for Jewish patients in 10 hospitals throughout the Lakewood area. Volunteers koshered the food pantries and kitchens and provided 600 meals to patients and their families who found themselves in hospitals over Pesach. In addition, the organization provided seder plates to about 100 patients who would otherwise have had no way to participate in the holiday.
