Patient Advocacy

Even the most capable patient advocate individuals may find themselves at a loss when negotiating the unfamiliar and complex world of medical care. But they need not navigate that world alone; LRBC's emergency hotline gives the community 24/7 access to a group of dedicated volunteer advocates who are specially trained to provide advice and guidance under with a wide range of medical situations.

LRBC's hospital liaisons operate in conjunction with regional hospitals, developing a thorough knowledge of each facility's protocol, procedures, and personnel. This positive working relationship is the crux of the LRBC hospital advocacy program, and the respect our volunteers have earned works to the patients' tremendous benefit. From the moment they arrive at the hospital, they have an advocate who is able to communicate with the staff, navigate the system and help them understand their options.

"...we ended up in the emergency room with our baby and were met there by Chaim Shaul Jurkansky of Bikur Cholim. His level headedness, assurance, experience, and kindness helped calm us and make the right decisions in a case of great need. He also sent us off to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia with plenty food provisions! Thank you Moshe Geller and Yehuda Kaszirer as well."
