The logistical challenges of organizing transportation to and from appointments can be a daunting task, especially for people with disabilities, the elderly and low income families. For local trips to doctors' offices and medical centers, LRBC's Shani Perl Local Transportation Service lifts the burden, enables patients and visitors to get where they need to go conveniently and safely, all at no cost.
When a patient's condition requires specialized out-of-town medical care, LRBC fills the need with twice-weekly van service to Manhattan. Due to increased demand, the Manhattan service is currently expanding to provide daily trips.
LRBC's fleet includes handicapped accessible vehicles, which provide the disabled with daily transportation to routine care visits and to social, communal and family events. With a dedicated group of volunteer drivers on call 24 hours a day, LRBC's transportation service has become a lifeline for the disabled individuals in our community who would otherwise have no affordable means of getting to doctors' appointments and participating in life's happy events.
